Q1. What are the differences among the USB 2.0 Ranger® 23xx extender series models and when will they be available?
A1. The USB 2.0 Ranger 23xx extender systems are all available now.
Q2. Are these USB 2.0 Ranger 23xx extender systems developed with Icron’s latest ExtremeUSB® ASIC?
A2. Yes.
Q3. Are these new extenders compatible with your existing USB 2.0 Ranger® 22xx series?
A3. No. The new 23xx series uses our latest ExtremeUSB ASIC and is not compatible with the older RG22xx series.
Q4. What are the advantages of the 23xx series over the 22xx series?
A4. The 23xx series includes our patented Mass Storage Acceleration feature allowing mass storage transfers to maintain a throughput rate close to 80% of what would normally be available if directly connected. Moreover, two of the models (2301GE-LAN and 2304GE-LAN) can additionally extend over a Local Area Network.
Q5. Will the 23xx series cost more than the 22xx series?
A5. No, in fact the 23xx equivalent models cost slightly less. Please contact your Account Manager for more details.
Q6. When will you be issuing an End-of-Life (EOL) notice for the 22xx series?
A6. An EOL notice is not planned at this time for the 22xx series, but are now considered to be legacy products and not recommended for use with new product designs.
